It is exciting and energizing to read how our libraries and the needs of our patrons are changing. This is one of the reasons I was interested in pursuing a career in the library media field. It is exciting, but it can also, at times, be overwhelming. I liked Stephen Abram's comment in his video that we need to make learning something new a priority.
The information that we can access is amazing. The tools that we have available to interact with information and each other is amazing as well. A concern that I have and I guess it is a challenge for me as well, is in teaching my students to be good consumers of information. I do worry about young, naive students who take everything they read and see on the Internet as the gospel truth. Since anyone and everyone can publish it is imperative that we teach our students to be critical consumers.
I look forward to learning more about Library 2.0 and Web 2.0. We are on a great adventure!
